Patil (Senior Program Manager in Microsoft) gave us a guest lecture on
conflict and ways to resolve it. He told us that “CONFLICT IS INEVITABLE BUT WE
CAN LEARN TO AVOID IT.” He cleared the definition of conflict for us. He
explained us that conflict can be destructive or constructive. An example which
we came up with was the World War II. This war was destructive as it broke down
many buildings and lead to many deaths but it was constructive as it gave birth
to the United Nations. We understood that many a time’s conflicts arise due to
wrong assumptions and lack of knowledge. His 6 strategies of conflict
resolution which he explained with examples were very effective for our
knowledge.
1 Communication Arbitration
Negotiation Litigation
Mediation Legislation
