On the 12thof September, Singapore
international school in Mumbai conducted confluence 2013, an inter-school
competition in which Oakridge was one of the 28 schools participating. Me and Ankitha participated
in the installations (art) competition under the below 17 category. In addition
there were two other girls from 11th IB who accompanied us to confluence; they
actively participated in the creative writing competition.
We arrived at the Mumbai airport after a one and
half hour journey from Hyderabad at 7 am. We drank a hot cup of Starbucks
coffee to relax ourselves and then we proceeded to the school to start off with
our competition. After looking at the jaw dropping installations displayed on
the topic ‘social issues around the word’ in the school, we were frozen for a
few moments. Although our work carried
an important message on ‘woman's harassment’, we thought the creative part
wasn’t fitting the T. We thought that the only time we can win the competition
is if the pigs start to fly.
However we finished our installation at the
given time and to our surprise it turned out to be better than we visualized.
After finishing the competition we left the beautiful campus of SIS and boarded
a flight back to Hyderabad. We eagerly waited for the results. After four days
when the results were finally out. We were shivering, tightening our fist and
clenching our teeth hoping for the best . We were so happy when we heard we
secured 3rd place. Our hard work has paid off.
Altogether it was a fun experience!
