Assembly by Grade 5: Diwali special

On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, it was time for the teachers of grade 5 to come forward and show to our kids, what Diwali is all about. We only think of lamps (diyas), fire crackers, sweets and fun when it comes to Diwali but it was time to also let the kids know the essence of the Diwali.

It was even more special since the assembly was also shared by the grade 3 kids. They graced the stage and made the assembly so very special. After the confident grade 3 kids left, it was time for the nervous yet excited grade 5 teachers’ turn to continue the assembly. The grade 3 kids had set a benchmark and therefore the teachers of grade 5 had to live up to that expectation.

Thus, out on the stage were our teachers to present a wonderful assembly for the students of junior school. The assembly started with a high note where they talked about the essence of delightful Diwali celebration.

Then that was followed by a beautiful prayer song. The meaning of the prayer song was rather so strong. Subtly sung but the impact it had on the audience was massive. Song is a humble request to the Almighty for perpetual strength to keep having faith in ourselves. We as humans are prone to making mistakes but we must see to it that we don’t falter from the right path.

The song although sung in Hindi, it has no religious touch to it keeping the secular ideology intact that, we have as Indians. Things like earn people not wealth, respect others to receive one for yourself, are few other clear messages that were there in the song.

However, the highlight of the morning assembly was the dance that was performed by enthusiastic teachers of grade 5. It was the magnum opus that they had saved for the last. The energy, fun, excitement and thrill were oozing out of their short but wonderful dance. It made the audience ‘jump out of their seat’ and the best part was that our kids loved it. They had the most fun and I think, it was then the goal of the teachers was achieved.

It was a great morning of fanfare where Diwali celebration started on a high note. Hope such sunny, funny and super amazing assemblies are on their way.
