Reflection on the Debate

Hello, I am Tarjni Pandya from class 5-D. recently we the students of 5th grade had a debate as a part of our learning process on our on-going topic ‘Government’. The topic was ‘Is democracy the ideal form of government?’ Every 5th grade section had it.
The stage was set on last Friday where our teacher, Ms Supriya had divided the class into two groups. The final D – day was on the 29th Oct, Tuesday. My excitement and preparations kept me probing to know how my day would unfold. The debate was a great experience and I absolutely enjoyed being a part of it. It was fun and at the same time we learned more about the government. There were great informative fascinating facts that were revealed during the process. My team was well prepared and performed very well. The students on the opposite team also had very strong points to present. The best part of the debate was that while having fun, knowing and learning different perspectives, we followed all the rules and regulations with ease. The debate was steaming up as it progressed, got intense with everyone’s inputs and counter arguments.
In this debate I personally feel that I learned and followed very important skills, profiles and attitudes. These are, listening skills, communication skills to being a thinker, an inquirer and showing respect. I am sure that this debate experience will help me in my future with other debates and my understanding about government. It has left me thrilled and excited to look forward to similar opportunities as I grow. I would like to thank my teacher and friends for this opportunity and appreciate the efforts in making it a memorable experience for me.
