Swimming
is a nice sport which gives an overall body workout; moreover, we don’t have the fear of getting hurt as we do it in water. It is really enjoyed especially
in summer. At Oakridge, all the children are really excited to have some fun
and great time in the pool.
As
an exercise, swimming is a great cardiovascular workout which strengthens both
the heart and lungs. Swimming for an hour can burn up to 650 calories which is
more than an hour of walking or biking. When you swim, you use all of your
body’s major muscle groups. Swimming is also good for reducing stress, and
because the buoyancy of the water reduces body weight by about 90%, it is a low-impact
exercise that gives good relief to sore joints.
