A Trade Fair by Grade IV Students

Students of Grade –IV have organized a Trade fair on January 4, 2013 in connection to their POI topic Trade”.

More than a Fair it was a learning process which gave the students a firsthand experience.  It gave an opportunity to the students to apply what they already learnt and gained new learning’s as well.

The Trade fair organized by them was based on their inquiry done during the unit where they learnt about what are trade, different people involved in Trade, Laws of supply and demand, distribution of goods and services, and the responsibilities of a producer and a consumer. Students gathered information from guest lectures real life stories related to laws of supply and demand, and field trip to an Agro based farm where they learnt how goods are produced and distributed.

During the fair the students were active participants. They wanted to have a fair deal, fixed the prices for their products appropriately and maintained the quality of their products.

The students were very reflective when they realized that the costumers are not buying their products they reduced the price which is nothing but one of the Law of Supply and Demand which says “When demand is low price is low”. The reflections given by the students after the Trade fair makes it visible that it provided them with a real life experience. They demonstrated their confidence, commitment and thinking skills.

On the whole it was a huge success.  This could happen only because of the team effort of the students’ teachers and the parents.  We are thankful to all our parents who always support us.
