Student-led conference is a much awaited event for all the three
parties involved- students, teachers, parents. It is a form of a conversation
between the student and their parents. SLC gives students an opportunity to
share with their parents their growth as a learner. They accept accountability
and responsibility for their progress and achievement, and demonstrate a
growing understanding of their development as independent learners.
SLC, as always this time
too was one of the most enthusiastic events of the year, the students took the
central role during discussions. The teacher acted as the facilitator and
prompter where necessary. Different stations related to literacy, numeracy and UOI
were set up, where students and their parents moved around looking at different
aspects of learning. It also involved presentation of the portfolio that shows
a range of evidence of learning that the student has selected.
The system is dynamic; school regularly modify and improve their
processes each year as they respond to feedback from the parents and strengthen
their practices in this area.
