Student’s Reflection: A Field Trip to Birla Science Museum

Technology is one of the several UOI topics we learn in Grade V. As part of this inquiry, we visited Birla Science Museum in Hyderabad. Everyone was excited as this Museum was special. Unlike all the other museums where it’s only about seeing, in this museum, it was about doing too! It was hands-on!

There was an exemplary model of an icy field with penguins waddling around and a remote island. There was even a miniature catwalk looming over the model for a closer view. We saw functional models of pulley systems, wheel and axles. We also saw a demonstration where mechanical energy (cycling) is converted into electrical energy (light in bulb).

The most-awaited section of the trip was the Dinosaurium. There were a few ancient fossils of fish, snails (humongous ones) and dinosaur body parts. There was even a comprehensive skeletal model of a species of a dinosaur.

Across-the-board, this Field Trip was the most enlightening and educative of all!
