Oakridge Parent Speak….

image image

The children's day celebration in the nursery was an event to behold. The kids had a gala time enjoying the snacks made by mommies of some and also listening to stories. I was one of the fortunate parent to enjoy and have a very good time telling stories and listening to their little talks. It was really fun! Not only the kids, but the parent's too gave a free rein to the child in them and enjoyed alongside. A special thanks to the teachers for arranging the event and involving me.

Our son, Ishaan is in PP2 - F. Right from PP1 he has tried to apply the unit topics which are covered in class. He has a very inquisitive and creative mind and he doesn’t just talk about what has captured his interest but also involves us in doing activities together. When the module on family was going on, he not just talked about his family but he would talk to us about families of animals, he would draw dinosaur family, frog family et al, complete with a mom, dad and kid J. During this time, he insisted that we do everything together – we built a tent and painted it together. He involves us in everything he wants to do. Now with the public places module, he talks of our home being a private place where only our family stays and public places where anyone can go. He recently made a jungle at home saying it was a public place where all animals stay and we can go whenever we wish to. We had a blast doing it and he pretended to be a frog.

We feel that all the unit topics covered in class are very relevant to what the young minds think at that stage and channelizes their thinking further in the right direction. Earlier too, we used to do things together as a family but the difference is that now Ishaan knows what it is and how families should do stuff together. It has got him thinking in the right direction. He knows what public places are and how one should behave. What I like best about the course design is that it encourages children to be inquisitive, creative and lets them ask questions and find answers. This kind of learning goes a long way in making kids self sufficient and independent. The teachers play a major role in getting the message across and Ms. Ritu does a commendable job at that. Her enthusiasm and support has really helped in enhancing Ishaan’s creativity and thinking. Thanks to all involved. We feel our son has really blossomed here J and hope that it continues.
