"GOOD WRITING IS A BEDROCK FOR FUTURE SUCCESS"

Good writing skills are more important now than they were 20 years ago, and teens do believe that good writing ability is an important component of guaranteeing success in later life. At Oakridge we believe in the holistic development of our students and one of the best ways to achieve this is through various Inter House competitions that are conducted at regular intervals. During these moments the house spirit is ignited amongst all the students as the point system is the motivating factor for them to participate and it brings out the best in them.

The Inter House Literary Competition was conducted on 15th November 2011. Teens do write for fun, some write for themselves, some outside of school and some at least occasionally and this competition created students' love for writing.

There was an overwhelming participation from all the four houses. Altogether 117 Students participated in the Competition. The Competition was conducted under 2 categories- 73 Students of Grades VII, VIII & IX participated in the Short Story Writing Competition under Category A and 44 students of grades IX, X & XI participated in Pen a’ Verse Competition under Category B.

This time we did not limit the number of participants from each house to encourage the students to pen down their flow of thoughts on any topic of their choice in the form of short stories and poetry. The duration of the competition was 1 hour for both the categories.

Though most teenagers use some kind of electronic personal communication but they loved participating in this event as they do not think of these e forms of communication as "writing."

The entries are being judged by eminent members of the Oakridge family and the People Combine group.
