Today was a very special day . Instead of making serious presentations in a board room, I was tagging along with 6 highly inquisitive kids in a groceries store !!
It was the day I volunteered to be a part of the 2nd grade field trip to HyperCity, Inorbit Mall, as part of the POI, aiming at developing ‘healthy eating habits’ in our children.
We had a lot of fun buying food stuff in our food group ‘Orange’ i.e. grains. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the kids know so much about all food groups & importance of a healthy diet . We saw products on each shelf & discussed its food group & importance in our diet. We also played a game in which I would give an ‘alphabet’ & the kids would name a ‘healthy food’ starting with it & then go on to describe its food group. We even integrated math into it when we checked the price of each product, deducted it from the money in our kiti & checked if it was sufficient. Even the billing was done by our ‘banker’.
I would like to thank Padmini for giving me this wonderful opportunity to be part of this learning & specially my new little friends- Moksh, Vivek, Aryan, Abhiram, Nipuna & Sujay for a memorable afternoon.
