Grade VI PYP Exhibition inquiry is going on in full
swing. To help students post their views, clarify doubts, provide information
or to upload relevant videos or pictures, the education network is being used.
The teacher mentor posts assignments now and then with a time duration and the
students pop up their learning on the site. Disaster management team is working
on the 3rd Line of Inquiry: Responsibility towards disaster management. This is the conversation
between two students in connection to the assignment posted by the teacher
mentor on the 3rd Line of Inquiry.

What you should do and know and what could happen to you?
By learning what your risks may be, you can prepare
for the disaster most likely to occur in your area. Meet with your family and
discuss why you need to prepare for disaster. Make two photocopies of vital
documents and keep the originals in a safe deposit box. Conduct fire and
emergency evacuation drills at least twice a year. Keep a portable,
battery-operated radio or television and extra batteries. Listen to the radio
or television and follow the instructions of local emergency officials. Stock
emergency supplies and assemble Disaster Supplies Kit. Get training from the
fire department on how to use your fire extinguisher. Post by phones emergency
telephone numbers (fire, police, ambulance, etc.).
After a disaster?
Remain calm and patient. Listen to local radio or television for news and instructions. Check for injuries. Give first aid and get help for seriously injured people. Check for damage in your home. Look for fire hazards. Check for gas leaks. Look for electrical system damage. Check for sewage and water lines damage. Clean up spills immediately. Make sure you have an adequate water supply in case service is cut off.
