Grade 3 children got an
opportunity to converse through Skype with an award winning author Ms. Chitra
Banerjee Divakaruni on their ongoing POI topic “Imagination” in the Junior
School Library. Children were curious to know an author’s point of view on
their current POI topic. Being an author
Ms. Chitra said “For an author, imagination is whole other ability. It’s beyond
the conscious intelligence. Ideas or images or even visions of characters just
appear in the story. It’s quite mysterious how it pops in the story without
planning!” It was a wonderful learning session from the great author. Children
read her books and few children asked many questions on her books. Few of the
children started asking the questions such as “How do you get the ideas?”,
“What do you do when you get stuck for the ideas?”, “How difficult was it to get
your first book published?”, “What is the worst thing about being an author? ”
etc.. Ms. Chitra answered all of our
children’s questions patiently as she stays in US and it is late night there in
US. Ms. Chitra was happy to hear a poem on her written by our little poet
Mayukhi.
