We
had elections for the fifth graders in our school. One candidate from each
class got nominated. They campaigned rigorously asking others to vote for their
candidature. In the process each candidate made various promises to take care
of us with interesting ideas (hope they keep them up). Each candidate was given
certain symbol and number by the Election Commissioner (Grade V teacher). We
had to vote for one best person who convinced us and whom we trusted the most.
We would have voted again, but we were given a marking on our fingers so that
we don't cheat. This program was extremely fastidious and felt like real Presidential
elections except that we were ten year old's standing for elections in Oakridge
International School. Who knows, some of us might actually contest for the real
elections twenty years down the line.
