It was a massive kitchen placed
by the government which provides food for more than 13 lakhs children; it was
huge looking and nicely kept. We learnt a lot from our experience as well as
the machines which work in one spirit makes their work easier, there were huge
pans of rice cookers, hot cans filled with food and the bed sized curry maker.
The manager and the people were very pious and we had learned a lot such as –
they have 18 such kitchens and their aim is to supply food to 50 lakh children
by 2020. – Jonathan.
At 8:30 am we left the school on our way to
Akshaya patra. At approximately 10:00 we reached. We first went to the kitchen, where we were
told that we had to take off our shoes, none of us was happy about that but we
took them out anyways. In the kitchen it smelled like jute bags full of rice;
well obviously because half of the kitchen was full of the bags. We all were
thinking that the kitchen would be dry but it turned out to be very wet, i
think because they just cleaned the kitchen. In the kitchen we saw how they
make food for 87,000 kids in less than 4 hours! The process was very large ,
they had 7 or 8 huge steamers and cookers, the cookers and steamers were 4 feet
in diameter.
After that we left the kitchen and the manager
showed us the vans, the vans were very big and we saw how they transport hot
and fresh food to over 5,000 schools. When we were done with the vans we left
for the rice cleaning section where we saw how they cleaned the rice that was
provided by the government and other organisation, this section had one big
machine which sorted out the bad grains and the good grains. -Anant
We went to the Akshaya Patra on the 9th of November. First we saw the kitchen. They cook for over 13 lakh children. In south India they provide dal , rice, curry and curd. Than we saw a video which was very inspiring and made me think we can do more later we went to a place where there was a huge machine which made the rice fine and clean.- Pranith
My feedback to Akshaya Patra is that they should
use more air fresheners and allow us to keep our shoe. It was very interesting
but some people went outside because they were a little nauseated. There was
also a lot of food on the ground, so they should allow shoes.-Virinchi
Firstly visiting the Akshaya Patra was very fun,
and.....messy but it was more fun. We saw where they made food for 87,000
kids!! I was astonished when found out
that a truck of that size could hold 1 ton of food. Than we saw a video about
the place and left for Aanganwadi center. But the overall experience was fun.- Ishaan
The field trip took place on the 9th of November.
First we went to the Akshaya Patra where we met the DM . The kitchen was pretty
messy, they just finished cleaning up but it was a fun and enjoyable
experience. They had a rice cooker which, after the rice was cooked they
transported it to 300 schools or 100,000 students. The trucks they showed us
could carry a thousand kilos of rice. The trip was memorable and fun overall.-

It was very nice. We learnt a lot from it. It was
really fun feeding them hungry people.- Ananya
Trip was very nice we got to learn a lot, the
Akshaya patra kitchen was huge, it had many utensils which explains how much
food they give to how many people. It was surprising to know that they are so many
hungry people in our city.-Sadvika
In Akshaya Patra we saw the kitchen and they were
cleaning it. We saw a video about the past of Akshaya Patra- Anish
I had fun in the field trip I barely went to the
kitchen because I wasn’t feeling good. After that we went to the place where
they polish the rice, we played with the rice for some time and then we stayed
hungry and experienced how it feels to stay hungry.- Sanchita
The video that was shown in the Akshaya Patra explained
all about how they make food and how many children they are feeding. We really
understood their mission to eliminate hunger. The transport vans sent the food
everywhere was huge and had dozens of racks in it.-Kavya
It was an amazing trip to Akshaya Patra and I got
motivated by seeing the kitchen as cooked for 85 thousand people and that’s
incredible.- Sofia
