Gues Lecture on Arcihtecture and Bio Diversity

Mr Chandra Sekhar   CEO, Principal Architect, parent of Prakhya IXD  obliged us by accepting the invitation for giving a lecture on architecture for grade IX CBSE on 9th November 2012.
Mr Chandra Sekhar   and his team comprising of his wife Mrs Asha Chandra Sekhar Architect, Mr Anujay s Vootla Design Director, Mr. Ananth Eyunni Project Manager from Genesis Planners had given a presentation on architecture  , which we see in the contemporary society.
The team spoke about the skill required for an architect. They explained the use of our right and left brain and how the left brain controls music, poetry, painting, sculpture, culinary art and the right brain controls mathematical logic & economics. To construct a house, the engineers look out for soil conditions. They compare the buildings to the skeleton of the human body .This shows us the significance of an architect in construction of a building.

The architect is a specialist in diagnosing the problems of the buildings and generates reports or drawings. They also covered the topics like landscape architecture which deals with climatic conditions and the different types of architectural structures.
Through presentations the students got an opportunity to see the beautiful structures from all over the world like huts made of mammoths , Mexican pyramid , a naturally formed ant hill, Ajanta caves , Statue of liberty, Rashtrapati bhavan and their significance in the architecture. There were slides which showed structures for our future cities.
The team largely explained the historical influence on making a building and the best example was the Pyramid of Egypt. The presentation was worth seeing  as our students showed a keen interest towards it.

Finally the presentation on the Bio Diversity Pylon which has been designed by Mr. Chandrashekhar and his team recently was inaugrated by our Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh.  This  was the most exciting one  for our children.

Biodiversity park is an attempt to tell the story of our place in nature and to show how delicately it balances with the ecosystem in which we live in.
The interaction was a success as the students reacted positively.  The interaction created a close and cordial bond between the parent and the students. It was a great opportunity for us as the team took the initiative to come and talk to the students about the topic which has a great relevance in society. This presentation also inculcated interest amongst students to take up architecture as their career.
