The Pre Primary of Newton campus conducted its PYP
information day. The day was aligned along the lines of inquiry for parents
into different rooms where parents of pre-primary students had a PYP info room
to know about the curriculum framework. Teachers helped parents to know that
PYP focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the
classroom and in the world outside. A
forum had especially been created to help answer those questions typically
asked by parents about the PYP.
Following
the PYP info room, there were rooms specially designed and set up for parents
to show the journey of learning in numeracy and literacy skills.
This
was followed by a quick peep into the replica iLearner room for parents with
hands on experience with iPads to give them an insight into the use of iPads in
classrooms with an overview of apps.
Through
the process of PYP information day, we successfully achieved the goal of
letting parents develop an understanding of important concepts, knowledge, and
helped them to develop particular attitudes and learn to take socially
responsible actions for children.
Parent Feedback:
Dr. Swapnil Khot- “The walk through sessions
(PYP/Numeracy/Literacy/i Learn) sessions were excellent, they filled the gap
between what the curriculum is and what the potential outcome we, as parents,
can expect from the PYP program. The initiative to involve parents in the
learning is good as well, makes us vested into the kid's learning. Thanks for
the effort in arranging this walkthrough through today.”
Pajaree Chakravarthy- “Thanks for your informative
session. It's great to have a look inside PP2 and what my child is going to
learn in the next one year. Thanks for introducing iLearner program. It's
exciting and Oakridge is probably the first in Hyderabad if not India to have
this in Pre-Primary. We also love the Teddy Goes Home program”.
Niraj Akhouri – “The way the entire program has
been arranged for is an experience in itself. It’s really amazing to know how
teaching/learning has become so enjoyable and how our child is growing and
learning new things every day.
Integrating the latest technology with regular learning at school is
absolutely a wonderful idea”
Anees & Ifthakar – “It was a very informative session;
we came to know what our child would be dealing with for the rest of the year
and future going forward for PP2. iPad session was also pretty good which gives
insight on how a new technology is being introduced at a very early age. One
special comment is the idea that has been put behind development of the PPTs
(iPadeology, APPtitude etc) is great. Good Job”.
Seemant Jauhari – “I think the info session
is very educational and necessary for the parents. It gave us an insight into
how and when our child will do what has been planned. Some of the program
components are very well thought out. We were particularly impressed with the
gradual introduction of concepts be it in literacy or numeracy. Thank you for
all your efforts”.
Sonali Srungaram – “The session was very
informative and laid us to rest several questions the parents had. A big thank
you to the teachers for all their effort!!!”
Aruna Tummala – “I am Very much excited to
know how my son is learning in the class. It also helped me how I can interact
with him and teach him. Launching IPAd is a great Idea. Overall I am very happy
to have my son in Oakridge”.
Sirisha – “PYP information is amazing. The
teaching methods are very interesting. I think students will have fun learning
this way. Introducing ilearning is very good, students are lucky to have this.”
Sabitha- “The session is very informative, we
came to know what kids r learning in class because this is our first year in
school. We are very happy with the methodology of the school. I enjoyed the
hands on experience. I m happy my kid is in good hands.”
Rukmani- “The initiative taken by the
teachers is commendable and appreciated. The information was well structured
and well presented. I am very glad that my son is not only having a fun time but
also learning a lot. Thank you!”
