The Counseling and Supportive Instruction
Unit is celebrating “Week of Special Learning Needs” from 23rd October to 25th
October 2013.
As a part of the programme an Open House
for the parents and Home room teachers was organized by the Supportive
Instructors .The objective of the programme was to showcase various resource
materials, teaching aids used by supportive instructors to teach children with
special educational needs.
Different, easy to use strategies which
can be utilized to teach children at home were explained and demonstrated by
student volunteers to the parents. The strategies used covered a vast range of
ideas that can be used across from lower to higher grades. Resources using
indigenous material were also presented.
Motivational strategies that can be used
with every child to make learning a fun experience were also displayed.
Parents and teachers were eager in asking
questions and clearing all their doubts. A kit was provided to the teachers
which contained tips for supporting kids with learning and behavior
difficulties.
Feedback
from parents
An excellent way to show various strategies,if followed there can be a difference in child learning.
Faculty
feedback
Excellent
resources, Wish the focus was on just this so that more people / students could
benefit and LEARN to handle children better.
The
resources and ideas displayed are very interesting; such things take the fear
of learning away.
