Student Reflection on Parent Talk — Values and Life Skills by Mr. Krishnan Sakotai

On Friday, 15 November, Mr. Krishnan Sakotai gave our class (8B) an inspiring talk about life and success. He started off by telling us a story. The story was about blind men and an elephant. In the story, the blind men touch different parts of the elephant to picture what the elephant looks like. One man felt the tail of the elephant and thought the elephant looked like a rope.

Another man felt the elephant’s leg and thought the elephant looked like a tree trunk, etc.  We learnt that people have different perspectives of the same things based on the way they looked at it. This is one story we will remember for a long time.

He also talked to us about decision making in life. This basically meant that we will come across situations where we will have more than one decision to make. We can choose whether to make the right decision or the wrong one. He told us about a moral compass that lies within us all. Just like a real compass which shows us directions, a moral compass shows us what is right and what is wrong.

We learnt many things about life and success which are very important to remember in our daily lives. It was great to get a parent’s perspective about this!
