Involving parents in teaching and learning process plays a
major role at Oakridge. Ms.Tanuja Abburi, an Oakridge parent was invited to
address the students on Trade. She created an atmosphere that was interactive
and involving all the students of grade 4. To make the session interesting and
to bring in the zeal of listening, she used visual aids showcasing process
involved in production of chocolates. She clarified the importance of 6 m’s (money,
manufacturers, materials, machinery, mass production, market) in trade. The
distribution of goods and responsibility of a consumer were briefed too.
Learners left the room in contentment as this learning engagement was well
connected to the big idea “Economic activity relies on systems of production,
exchange and consumption of goods and services”.
