An interactive session was conducted on Visible Thinking. The strategy of the session was to make thinking visible in the context of learning. The session started with some visible thinking strategies, thinking routines and interaction between teachers and PYPC, Ms.Anuradha Sawhney.
The highlight of the session was to make Thinking Routines, a culture of the class. An extensive and adaptable collection of practices, Visible Thinking has a double goal: on the one hand, to cultivate students' thinking skills and dispositions, and, on the other, to deepen content learning. The routines are a central element of the practical, functional and accessible nature of Visible Thinking. Thinking routines are easy to use mini-strategies that are repeatedly used in the classroom. They are a small set of questions or a short sequence of steps that can be used across various grade levels and content. Each routine targets a different type of thinking and by bringing their own content, teachers integrate the routines into the fabric of their classrooms.Routines help direct student thinking and structure classroom discussion. Therefore, Visible Thinking uses an enculturative approach to develop students’ thinking, immersing students in a rich culture of thinking in schools and classrooms.
