On the 20th of Dec Grade 9 (CBSE)
experienced a very captivating and invigorating Book Reading Session conducted
by members of the Little Theatre- (A theatre group of Hyderabad).We had a very
enthralling one hour session by six
esteemed readers of the group reading and enacting excerpts from
stories, novels , poems and drama. We had amongst us Shankar Melkote the founder
member of Little Theatre and a renowned actor in films, TV as well as plays, his nephew Ravi Shankar Melkote who too has been
conducting reading sessions , B.S
Prakash who was the man behind selecting the materials for the reading session
–another famous actor on stage, TV and films. We also had Sarala Mahidhara,
Director of several plays and a regular reader with the Little Theatre, Vijay Marur
a film maker, a voice-over artiste and a creative writer. A theatre veteran he
has been reading regularly with the Little Theatre and Jayashree Uppal, who has
contributed towards creative writing pieces and has been associated with the
theatre group since its inception.
The readers read out pieces from Vikram
Seth’s “The Louse and the Mosquito”, Ogden Nash’s “Song to be sung by the father of infant female Children ”, “The Pickwick Papers “by Charles
Dickens, Gerald Durrel’s “My family and other Animals”, an essay from – H..G Gardiners “The Shaking Hand” PG Wodehouse’- “The dinner at Blandings Castle ending the
session with a portrayal of a few acts from Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice”.
