This enrichment strategy was done by Grade V
students in the class. To begin, each student receives a verb card. Each
student will be given a verb root card and they will fish for verb tenses of
the verb on their card only. Each fish come in groups of three. The fishes are
mixed in the pond (on the floor). Students take turns fishing. Their turn ends
when they have "caught" a verb tense for the verb on their card. If
students catch fish that don't match their card, they may throw them back and
try again. Students play until they have caught present, past, and future
tenses for their verb.
This enrichment strategy helps students recognize
and name different tenses of the same verb.
