Drivers steer a different wheel

As an institution that encourages holistic learning, Oakridge International School, Newton Campus believes it its responsibility to instill the spirit of learning in everybody. World Literacy Day was celebrated in the school on the 6 September under the banner of “Each One Teach One”. As part of these celebrations, the school bus drivers were helped in creating e-mail accounts by forty-three students of Grade X.
The chief guest of this event, Mr. Manmohan Jain, Chairperson of the India Literacy Project, Hyderabad Chapter, divulged  on the importance of literacy in our society. All their queries were answered in Telugu to the delight and satisfaction of the drivers. Then each student buddied up with one driver and took them to the ICT lab and helped open an email account. They responded with boyish enthusiasm and the expression that was writ large on their faces was ‘Yeh Dil Mange More’.
The efforts by the students are a step towards making the drivers more technologically-aware. It was heartening that the drivers thoroughly enjoyed this session and are enthused to learn more.
