Faunus…Inspiring Greenovation @ Oakridge Newton

The morning of 31 August witnessed a large number of young environmentalists who came together to debate and find feasible solutions on topics like Bio Diversity, Bio Medicine, Water Management, Energy and Technology. The conference Faunus was an initiative of some students from Oakridge International School Newton campus aimed at combating the impending environmental crisis. The committee sessions involved brainstorming sessions in order to architect a plan for a solution, such as a prototype of a product, a marketing idea, a scheme or any other work that would help the environment.
The Chief Guest on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the conference was Mr. K S Venkatagiri one of the key senior members of CII-GBC who spoke on the concept of ‘Green schools’. The conference ended with a delegate dance organized for the students who enjoyed the music after the day long debating sessions.

Some reflections by students……

Vedasri Ketha : It was a good opportunity and helped me gain confidence. Everyone was given an opportunity to speak and that was appreciated.

Neha Lingareddy: I really enjoyed Faunus 2013. It was a very enriching experience... I will definitely register for next year.

Aditya Shivam  (Delhi Public School) : Faunus was a totally out of the world experience for me, and I'm sure it also was for most of the delegates, at least for those of us who were having a first time go at such a committee conference. I would like to express my deepest gratitude and my heartfelt congratulations to the entire Faunus management committee. It was an amazing experience, a truly unforgettable one and we hope to have more such informative, interesting and mesmerizing sessions in the future. Thank you, Congratulations and Best Of Luck!

Abhilash Sankaramanchi (FIITJEE) : It was really knowledgeable. Faunus was a great success.
These reflections only strengthen our resolve to bring in more such meaningful experiences for the students who are so motivated in making a difference.
