CAS Reflection of 8C and 8J

On 24th of October, 2013, class 8J visited Joyland School for a CAS visit. We weren’t very sure about what we would teach the students as we didn’t know which grade we were going to teach. After Narinder Sir informed us that we were going to teach students from 10th grade we decided to teach English. But we weren’t entirely sure about their level of English. Our class teacher, Indrani Ma’am, told us to ask them to introduce themselves, but the main problem was that most of them were shy to introduce themselves. After convincing all of them we asked them to write down what they had said. They didn’t agree at first but they said if we introduced ourselves they would write it down. So after introducing ourselves we helped them to write their introduction. They needed some help in terms of grammar, but also with the sentence formation. With this visit, we helped them to improve their grammar, sentence formation and their overall knowledge of English. Along with that we improved their communication skills and we made a bunch of new friends. We really enjoyed this inspirational experience and hope to visit the school and the students again. Sesha Tipirneni and Kaushik Kalidindi – VIII J

24th October 2013, we went for CAS. It was a good experience. Our group had decided to teach the students' art. We gave them 1 A-4 size paper each and then instructed them how to utilize the paper, we told them to draw anything from their textbook to know their capability and after that when they had completed their drawing we asked them that if they liked the class or not. This helped us to know how we were and we even got to know that these people studying in Joyland school are actually very good in their studies as well as their activities, they just need to work harder and they can achieve their goals. In every school there are some students who misbehave even in this school we found some students, they weren’t that bad, they can be guided and they will be good. This may benefit their lives in various ways some kids were very good in art, I would suggest that they should make their career in art and for that they need proper guidance, a proper and a certified teacher who can help them. This project has even made a difference in our life; we developed our skills like teamwork, leadership, respect, appreciating and understanding. My team members were very helpful and they helped me a lot. Soraya - 8C

Today was my first CAS visit, and we went to Joy Land School. I wasn’t sure about the trip and I didn’t know how I was going to teach a room full of children math. The kids were really sweet and answered all the questions we gave them. They also had a great sense of fun, and that made it easy for us to interact with them. I wanted to come back from CAS with the feeling that I actually helped them and taught them something. We taught them Area and Volume and also Algebra.  I learnt that it feel really good to teach kids something, and lend a helping hand. Next time, I want to take some stickers or chocolates to award them for right answers. I have learnt to be more patient and understanding while teaching them, and that is really going to help me be a better human being in the future.
