Peace Day by Grade 5A

On 24th October Grade 5 celebrated the International Peace Day. In our respective class rooms the teachers and the students spoke about the various issues of war and then the solutions as to how peace can be retained. Children came up with various wonderful ideas for peace promotion. They presented their views and understanding of peace through drawings, poems, role plays, posters, collage, etc. They were beautiful and so very meaningful. It was a good day to learn and remember the importance of peace.

Student’s Reflection
Peace day was a memory of not only mine but the whole world. Peace day started on a day when Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed in Japan. Since then people started making cranes out of paper in Japan and also in many other parts of the world and that is exactly what we did in our own school to show how much we respect the people who suffered the bomb blast.

Peace day is not only celebrated in Japan but it is celebrated in the whole world. There are many ways of celebrating or remembering peace. One way is by making paper cranes or writing a small sweet letter about peace. So this is my reflection of the WORLD PEACE DAY.

Every day should be a peace day

This year, 2013, the International Day of Peace was on a Saturday,
September 21st, Everyone awaits  this day as there will peace all
around  no fights it will be nice and calm

In 1981, the United Nations general assembly, by unanimous vote,
adopted resolution 36/67  establishing international peace,
... To devote a specific time to concentrate  the efforts of the U.N
and the member states, the first peace day was celebrated on 1982 on the opening day of general assembly.

In   2002, U.N general assembly officially declared September 21st as
the permanent annual date for international  peace day.
Anyone, anywhere can celebrate peace day. It can be as simple as
lighting a candle at noon, sitting for meditation in front of it, or
doing a good deed to someone you don’t know or it can involve getting co-workers, organization, community or government engaged in a large event.

Imagine what a whole day of peace would mean to humankind.
Peace is not supposed to be followed for one day but is supposed to be followed in your whole life.
