Today, Mr. Manoj
Kumar Jain, Aashna’s father gave the students of human rights a guest lecture
on Gender Discrimination and Child Rights as our PYP exhibition is down the
pipeline. He is a lawyer by profession.
This guest lecture
helped me learn many new facts which are as follows:
When a girl is
born, the family and the mother react by weeping especially in remote
conservative Indian villages and conservative urban areas too.
Domestic violence
happens in a huge scale in India — where a wife gets beaten up by husband and
his family members.
In divorce cases,
the child is given to the mother by default, thus discrimination against men
happens too.
We had some
questions which were answered by our guest. It was a great interactive class
for my knowledge has grown bigger now on these two topics. In the end, we
thanked our guest by giving him a gift and two thank you cards.
