The Story of Bottled Water — Video Watched in the PAT Class

Today we have learnt about how bottled water hurts the environment. It was called “Story of the Bottled Water”. I have summarized the idea behind the story as follows:

·       Situation – Bottled water costs 200 times more than anything! It also uses so much fuel while manufacturing which can be used to fuel a million cars.

·    What happens – Once we drink a bottle of water, we throw the empty bottle and it goes for recycling or in some cases they use it in land-fills or burn them which releases toxic gases.

·      What is happening? – Most of the time they are shipped to India or other poor nations where it becomes a trash mountain.

·      The effect – With this, there is pollution which is causing environmental harm for animals and human beings.

·      The cause – This is all because of manufacturing demand. All the companies are saying that tap water is bad to scare us; well, this is all not true. The truth is that bottled water comes from the taps. So tap water is better directly.

·        Action taken – People in restaurants have started serving tap water instead of bottled water since they know that bottled water anyways comes from the taps.

·       Action I would take – I would love to drink clean tap water and say no to Bottled Water. We can always use purifiers to purify our water that we drink.

·      What else can we do? – We can also join organizations to build campaigns and spread awareness. This will help in the betterment of the society.

·       What are we not able to do? – In India, we are not able to drink tap water because we feel it is not pure. The thought of it being not pure is because of us – because we are polluting and we are not able to save our environment and drink pure water.

Sometimes it is nice to see such videos in PAT class and ponder over them. As a learning outcome, I would say that this was an interesting video to see what the real story of Bottled Water is.
