“Students embarked on a
field trip to RSAA Aviation Academy situated in Begumpet, Hyderabad. The trip
came as a complete surprise as we were only told on the previous Monday that we
would be going. After departing from school after 2nd period we all endured a
lengthy bus ride towards the facility.
When we finally arrived
we all were treated to a short speech from what seemed to be the director of
the academy. He explained the process that the pilots training there go through
so that we would have a better understanding of the overall process. After
trudging through a short muddy path we finally reached a tiny unimpressive
door, but after walking through we were greeted by a large airplane-hanger
filled with planes. The silver ceiling watched over us as we gazed around at
the many air crafts that were held within. We then stepped out of the hanger
into an open area, which we quickly realized was the runway.
After that we headed off
into smaller groups to examine the air crafts. Real pilots showed us how they
planes functioned. We all learned a lot of things, one thing that surprised me
was that in all planes the fuel is stored in the wings. We even got to sit in
the cockpit of one of the extraordinary vehicles. We met with students of the
academy and got to learn all about their hopes and dreams. The trip ended with
a vision of a flight simulator which many of us got to actually use.
All in all, the field trip
was an enjoyable experience for everyone, including the teachers! I think it
may just have inspired some of my classmates to discover their own dreams of
one day taking to the skies” - Abhiram (grade X)
“Grade 10 (IGCSE)
students were given the honor to visit Rajiv Gandhi Aviation Academy at
Bowenpally, Hyderabad. At the academy, the students were educated with the
flight training techniques and plane parts, as well as how the cockpit works
and a chance to sit in the cockpit was given to the students and teachers.
Furthermore, the Academy
gave the opportunity to enter a “Cabin Simulator” and some of the students
utilized it very well. As a project, the students of Business Studies (taught
by Mrs. Siby Gladis) distributed HR survey questionnaires to pilot trainers and
some of the ground staff. Interviews of the trainees were also conducted by
some of the students.
The activity was a
direct correlation of what was being done in the class. The trip was wonderful
and I hope that the future grade 10 students also are fortunate enough to get
such an opportunity” - Sufiyan (grade X-G)
