Research on Recruitment Process

Aim: 
 
The teaching-learning process in the classroom facilitates students to acquire a theoretical knowledge. However, in order to get a practical exposure it is mandatory to conduct research. This research will enable the students to understand the process of recruitment, training methods, job satisfaction of the employees and other aspects related to recruitment.

Procedure: 

Topic (title) selection:
Students select a title of their interest (relating to recruitment and training)
Preparation of Questionnaires:
Students prepare 10 questions, which comprises of open-ended and close-ended questions.
For example (Close-ended questions):
  • How did you know about the job vacancy?
  • TV     b) newspapers    c) internet    d) friend   e) other source
  • For example (Open-ended questions)
  • Were you given training by the organization?
  • Was it On-the-job or Off-the-training?
Distributing of Questionnaire:
The questionnaires will be distributed to people who are employed in various organisations.
Data Collection:
Students collect the questionnaires after being answered by the respondents.
Data Analysis:
Data obtained in the previous step is analyzed by applying the knowledge they obtained in the classroom. For example, by using tally marks, frequency distribution tables, etc.
Data Presentation:
The analyzed data is presented in the form of tables, graphs, percentages, pie diagrams and/or other statistical tools.
Conclusion & recommendations:
Students conclude their research and suggest recommendations with regard to the area selected. For example, how recruitment process can be made better? How job satisfaction can be achieved? How effective training can improve productivity? And other related questions can be solved in the process of the research activity.
Social Significance of the research: 
The research helps the students to understand the problems faced by candidates during recruitment process, the requirement of training and professional development for the staff in each organization and other related issues. The researcher can suggest recommendations to the organizations concerned.
Finally, this research will make easy the writing of EXTENDED ESSAY in the future years (IBDP) to come.
