The University Experience At Home!

Learning with professors from the world’s best universities, for free? Yes why not, time can be used efficiently by signing up for any number of courses by portals like Coursera. Coursera is founded by two Stanford University computer scientists. It has involved members like University of Michigan, John Hopkins and others provide online courses for students around the world to experience learning on a larger scale.  The usual layout of the course is simple, with video lectures being the core and some recommended books and articles for the students for extra guidance. Weekly assignments have deadlines and at the end of the course a final assessment is conducted, usually a Statement of accomplishment is given depending on the course and the University.
But there is more, if the students wish to have a verified certificate from the University, s/he could always sign up for the Signature Track by paying a fee which is usually discounted if paid within the first weeks of the course. Again this applies to some courses that offer a Signature Track.
I believe this experience is a valuable opportunity for all of us to indulge ourselves in these courses which range from sciences to humanities to music. All you have to do is sign up www.coursera.org and choose your course, put in 5 hours of work into it each week and learn something new every day - ShivangiTiwari (Grade X, CIE)
