Dear Sreedevi Ma'am
and Shubhangi Ma'am:
By now, you must aware that Oakridgers were victorious in both the Juniors and the Seniors group of the Spelling Bee that was organized by OIS and the Times of India group. Thanks to OIS for being part of this initiative in bringing the best and brightest minds together. It is a very good and creditable initiative and we are very pleased and proud of OIS.
I am also very proud and pleased to write to you about Aayush's achievement. Aayush earned the honor of participating in the Sunday Semifinals after the written round which was conducted last weekend where
The Top 100 were selected. In the second round on Sunday, Aayush first progressed from the Top 100 to the Top 30. This selection was based on a written test of 50 words of jumbled words and dictation. The Top 30 were further narrowed to the Top 25 based on a timed test of words with missing alphabets. Aayush was successful in this round, as well, making him one of the 25 finalists. The finale was an oral round of spelling based on the pronounced words from the judge. Aayush successfully spelt all the 10words that he was challenged with, however, he did not place in the Top 7that were announced. The final results were based on a sum of the scores from the previous rounds and we were not provided which round was a low scoring round for him. We are very proud of this achievement and wanted to share it with you because he will be too shy to discuss this in school.
Because of the Spelling Bee, Aayush missed an award ceremony where he was awarded the "Upcoming Player" of the Under 10 Category of the Tennis Tournament which was held last weekend. He was disappointed because he missed the opportunity of being part of the award ceremony and pageantry, especially since he did not place in the Top 7. He received a nice trophy which he is too shy to bring and I am confident that he will bring the champions trophy in the near future.
Thanking you.
Kind Regards,
Dr. PavanBhat
