Many studies have concluded that when parents
are involved with their child’s education it benefits everyone involved in more
than one way. Communication between the
teacher and parent allows educators to overcome several of the obstacles faced
today. The first and most important
thing to understand about a PTM is that it is not just about gathering
information about your child’s overall performance or about understanding the
child’s behaviour in this environment but moreover understanding the strengths
and weakness of a child so as to collaboratively aid the child at home and in
school using or reinforcing the same skill, conceptual understanding
development strategies that facilitate/reinforce the method of learning that is most suitable
to the child. A parent teacher meeting also helps foster necessary
understanding and a good relationship between the parent and facilitator that
is essential for the student to reach his maximum potential.
Parent Reflection:
“I’m very happy about the transparency in
communication that I am observing this year through teacher contact, weekly
transaction report etc. as it helps me understand thoroughly what more needs to
be done with my child.
PTM provides an excellent way to build a relationship between parent and the teacher. I appreciate Ms. Rini's open-mindedness, sensitivity and her positive tone during the meeting. It is always a great pleasure in seeing my child's work and development- Priya's Mom
