66th Independence Day was celebrated
with great pomp in our segment- 7th and 8th Grade with a
gallery walk. A gallery walk consists of large format summaries posters around
the corridors and an opportunity for participants to view, reflect and comment
on the information.
The posters included:
·
Ancient
India’s contribution to the field of science and technology
·
Great
Heroes of the Medieval India
·
Lest
we forget- Contribution of the freedom fighters in India’s Independence
·
Collage
on formation of Telangana
Gallery Walk was an engaging way to get group
participation and to promote shared understanding and ongoing learning. It was
a technique that got students out of their chairs and into a mode of active
engagement. It was a chance of to gauge the depth of students’ understanding
about the freedom fighters.
Reflections:
Ria Parera (grade VIII): - Through this gallery
walk, we learnt more about the important people who struggled for our
independence and even their contribution. We also learnt about their “Never
give up “attitude and how it helped them achieve their goal setting an example
for us to do the same.
Kartik Vashist (grade VIII): - The gallery walk
was fun and educative. We did a lot of research for this activity. In spite of
last minute hitches we made some last minute adjustments and the posters came
out really well. The charts were displayed in the corridor and explained to the
visitors. All in all it was a good learning experience and we look forward for
more such activities.
Ayush Agarwal (grade VIII): - The gallery walk
was a good learning experience. It showcased the rich history and diversity of
India and told the tale of all our brave heroes. We came to know a lot about
their contribution towards making India a free country.
