The Independence Day week was celebrated
at Oakridge Newton campus with various activities centered around the freedom
struggle of India. There was a gallery walk organized by the Grades 7 and 8
students which showcased Ancient India’s contributions to the field of science
and technology. The students also worked on a lot of posters that depicted India’s
rich culture and heritage.
A quiz was conducted by the Grades 9 and
10 on events between 1857 to 1947 which received a good response The Grades 11 and 12 presented a skit on a
typical Lok Sabha Session. They also presented a film showing India’s past,
present and future. There was a special assembly held where students sang
patriotic numbers in all fervor and pride towards their nation.
The Independence Day celebrations on 15
August witnessed a vibrant crowd of students who assembled in school. The
Principal Capt.Rohit Sen Bajaj speaking on the occasion said it is a time to
introspect, to create a legacy for the future generations. The Chief Guest for
the occasion was Mr.Birad Rajaram Yajnik, an entrepreneur and the author of
Peace Truth and Ahimsa a photo biography of Mahatma Gandhi. Mr.Birad spoke at
length on Gandhiji’s journey and how he became one of the most inspiring
leaders of the world. He urged the students to work towards being ‘a Gandhi and
not just a follower of Gandhian principles’.
The program also witnessed a cultural
show of dance and music. The celebrations, the hoisting of the flag, the pledge
that we take only reiterates our love for the country and the pride and sense
of belonging that we all share for our country…. Saare Jahan se Achcha
Hindustan Hamara.
